This is an interactive “museum on wheels.” The HistoryMobile draws together stories from all over Virginia and uses state-of-the-art technology and immersive exhibit spaces to present individual stories of the Civil War from the perspective of those who experienced it – young and old, enslaved and free, soldiers and civilians.

This group provides an unparalleled opportunity to meet, speak with and ask questions of General Robert E. Lee, “Stonewall” Jackson, James Longstreet, J.E.B. Stuart, and many of the other officers who help make the Army of Northern Virginia seem “invincible” to its opponents on the field of battle.

Federal Encampment Liberia Plantation
Liberia Plantation - Friday, August 24th – Sunday, August 26th
In March, 1862, Union forces arrived at Liberia to find the Confederates gone. In their haste it is reported that they left behind several battle plans and other documents as well as unburied bodies. Union General Irwin McDowell set up camp at Liberia and is reportedly visited by President Lincoln and Secretary of War Edwin Stanton on June 19, 1862. Living history interpreters will recreate General McDowell’s headquarters with visits over the weekend by President Lincoln.

Civil War re-enactors from around the country join the community to commemorate the Second Battle of Manassas (Bull Run) in a military parade through Old Town Manassas. The parade begins at 10:00AM.

We invite you to join us in an evening of history where you will interact with Civil War personalities, step back in time to 1861 and enjoy music and dancing under the stars, and enjoy delicious food. The Ball will be held August 25, 2012 from 6:30 PM to 11:00 PM in the Loy E. Harris Pavilion located in the center of historic Old Town Manassas. Ticket information will be posted as soon as it becomes available.
